Tiktokers Sebastian Brevik and Henrik Viken were only supposed to participate in the Norwegian Rock Paper Scissors Championship, Oslo Open in Oslo, on Thursday, the 3rd of August. However, the participation was short-lived.
The Norwegian Association for Rock Paper Scissors (NFSSP) invites new and old participants to the yearly Norwegian Championship in Rock Paper Scissors.
The event has a habit of going smoothly. Still, during the 2023 edition, the two Norwegian Tiktokers, Sebastian Brevik and Henrik Viken received marching orders before starting the competition.
Schpell.com had a chat with Mr. Brevik after the event.
– When we arrived, there was an excellent atmosphere. We greeted and introduced ourselves to all the participants, and not least, we bought beer for everyone, says Brevik.
He says that they wanted to create buzz around the tournament.
– We made sure that everyone agreed to be filmed, as we wanted to make some great content out of this to create more buzz around the folk sport of Rock Paper Scissors. We also spoke to them (NFSSP) via Facebook to ensure we were welcome – Brevik emphasizes.
Brevik and Viken also interviewed Martin Giset, president of NFSSP. Brevik adds that the atmosphere was good, and the interview was done without problems.
Then came the counter-notice.
– Suddenly, a person comes and asks to talk with the president. When he returns, we are told we are not welcome in the tournament and are kicked out.
Viken and Brevik do not receive an immediate justification for why they were kicked out when they asked for an explanation. Still, later, Brevik learned that it was about previous controversial statements.
– After some back and forth, we learn that it is because of my previous statements where I talk about there only being two genders. However, they would not say this directly to us.
The case continues after the video
Brevik also thinks it’s a shame that his friend were refused to participate because of his previous gender comments. He says the event was initially open to everyone, and the union said they favor inclusion.
– Brevik concludes that this is a sad incident and day for the popular sport of Rock Paper Scissors.
